Christmas Decorations

Christmas - such a big time for us here at Your Life Your Home.

We provide every client with a copy of our annual Christmas Festivities programme so they can see exactly what's on. They're then free to choose what they'd like to join in with - and what they've got to look forward to!

Every year many of our clients ask for help to decorate their flats - and for some of them this starts in November!

Our Christmas trees arrive from a local Farm Shop at the start of December, then staff and clients alike help to decorate our three properties. The Old Rectory, being a victorian "modern mansion" (the definition at that time being a property with two internal staircases), looks stunning when decorated and really suits Christmas!

Best Dressed Flat competition

At one of our Tenants meetings several years ago, one of our clients suggested a prize for the best Christmas decorated flat. This was adopted unanimously and it's a tradition that's looked forward to every year.  On the day of our annual Christmas party, our Manager Helene and our Admin Manager, Sharman, visit all the flats and agree the First, Second and Third prize winners. But of course everyone that takes part wins a prize.

Winners are announced at the start of our Christmas party, with all prizes handed out before the dancing starts! It's here that staff Secret Santa gifts are handed out, to much hilarity all round!

In the afternoon of Christmas Eve, the tables get moved into place and laid properly - including crackers and sweets! It all looks very festive and our clients start getting excited. That evening we have a takeaway delivered while clients sit with staff chatting about what their hopes are for presents the next morning!

Christmas Day and Boxing Day

Christmas Day starts with a communal breakfast for those that choose, while staff get lunch started. Much excitment while clients show off their presents and generally enjoy the morning. Sometimes we have families visit, which is lovely to see them.

Drinks at the free bar lead into lunch - everyone takes their seats and crackers are pulled. We enjoy a delicious three-course meal, followed by cheese and biscuits, which clients enjoy while again chatting about their presents and sharing their jokes from crackers.

Boxing Day is a similar format to Christmas Day with drinks and dinner, but a little more low-key.

Don't worry though, clients aren't obliged to join in. Any client that choses not to join us at the table can request their Christmas dinner delivered to their flat.

New Year's Day sees another celebratory meal, welcoming in the New Year in style!

Below is the 2025-2026 Christmas Festivities programme, a copy of which will be provided to all clients in December.
