Support Worker with BSL
Support workers are required to provide support to a profoundly deaf client with slight learning disabilities in our supported living provision in Ash, near Sandwich.
The right candidate must be able to use British Sign Language at a minimum of Level 2 to enable effective communication. The ability to drive is beneficial due to the location and responsibilities, but non drivers are still welcome to apply.
Working hours:
Your Life Your Home operates different shift patterns Monday - Sunday:
Mornings 8am - 1pm
Afternoons 1pm - 6pm
Evenings 6pm - 11pm
Weekend Only shifts are available.
Some of the duties include:

Helping clients around their home with household chores including washing up, cleaning, hoovering, laundry etc.

Support with meal preparation and cooking.

Support with chosen activities such as going to the cinema, to the pub, reading to clients or watching their favourite television programmes/films with them.

Support with medication reminders and/or medication administration (training will be given).

Support or reminders to complete personal care including help getting dressed, washing etc.

Support with weekly shopping.

Support to attend medical appointments.
Candidates should be:

Caring and warm-hearted with a compassionate nature.

Perceptive, responsive and intuitive. Flexible to changes in client needs.

Open to learn and gain new knowledge or grow existing skills.

Reliable, dependable, able to multitask, able to remain calm and keep a cool head.
Essential requirements:

Possess a Level 2 British Sign Language qualification.

Have the Right To Work in the United Kingdom.

A good grasp of the English language.
Desirable requirements:

Driving licence

Health & Social Care Diploma an advantage, but not essential as training will be given.
Pay and holiday:
-
Hourly rate is negotiable and may be enhanced for the right candidate by the local placing authority.

28 days holiday per year including bank holidays.
